No, nicotine is an additive that causes the physical addiction to cigarettes and cigars. Nicotine causes growth of nicotine receptors in the brain, which make your brain want to smoke to receive more nicotine.

Pot is the slang word for marijuana, which is a hallucinogenic drug with no known physical addictions. THC is the active ingredient and does not grow receptors in the brain. It can be psychologically addictive, but not physiologically.

No, it is not.
Nicotine is an alkaloid found in the nightshade family of plants (Solanaceae), predominantly in tobacco, and in lower quantities in tomato, potato, eggplant (aubergine), and green pepper. Nicotine alkaloids are also found in the leaves of the coca plant. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine)
Pot = Cannabis = Marijuana.

No...one is legal and one is not. They're both addicting, though, although some people say pot is not addicting.
