I need to replace a plug on a lamp. I bought a Cooper (?) snap on replacement plug, but it didn't come with any instructions. There does not appear to be any terminal screws, nor does it appear to open up in anyway. There IS a small metal tab, that I think is important, but I don't know what I am supposed to do with it. Also, do I remove any of the wiring's casing before I slide it into the plug?

If it
's the one I am thinking of you squeeze the two prongs a little and pull it out from the rest of the plug. You cut off about 1" of the tip of the wire so that it is nice and square. You then stick the wire through the plug and without stripping the wire open the prongs up and put the wire inside so that the small pins will pierce the wire and make a connection Then slide the plug down and snap the prongs into it

Sometimes, if you are lucky, you can drill a hole and get them out with an easy out. Sometimes they are stuck so tightly you have to remove the heads and carefully drill them out. Once you get the problem solved, remember this for all future applications of glow plugs. Always coat the threads with never seize before installing them.
