The most probable reason for this is that the metal connector inside the light bulb holder has become bent as some stage. When the holder is out of the light there bulb is able to make the connection however when you re-fit the holder the bulb moves and the connection fails.
Remove the holder and the bulb, that a screw driver and bend the connector more out towards the bulb.

could be a broken wire, bad earth, loose connection, or corrosion.
take the bulb out and look at all the contacts for rust, if there is any get some emery paper,/ fine sand paper and rub it off.
if that doesn't work take off all the wires one by one, replace them before taking off the next one, it will help in remembering where each one goes, and check for rust /corrosion, then put it back on making sure its tight
if this doesn't work wiggle each wire, while the indicator is on, if while wiggling one it works and then stops work then you have a broken wire and that wire needs replacing
the earthing problem can be checked by putting a lot of power into the light cluster, put reverse light, fog, rear lights all on, then put the indicator on, while its working, it all the other lights get dimmer when the indicator light and brightens as it goes off, then you have a bad earth
i hope this helps

What does it no longer do? Does the emergency flasher activate each and all the lights? Does the left area no longer artwork or is it the marvelous that does no longer? Do the lights bypass on and then flick once you hit the turn sign for his or her area or do they under no circumstances bypass on? it fairly is achievable which you have 2 burnt out bulbs or yet another pair of issues and that's why changing one area or the different has no longer spoke of a particular restoration..

Bulb is not making good contact on socked (grounded part). Depending on what kind of base is on the bulb you may be able to bend wires on base of bulb, -- if the"flat glass base with wires bend over bottom is the one. (this fixed problem on my Acclaim, and it works fine, - just shifted wires a little to sides of base, so that they ride on different part of the socket contacts! If it is the ones with the "wires" sticking streight out, you can bend little "squiggles" in each wire, - use two needle nose pliers to do this, so you don't crack glass at base of bulb! This sometimes makes bulb make good contact again!
And if you have the "bayonet" type,- (with the little pegs sticking out the side), Try to clean the inside of the socket (on sides)- they sometimes get corrosion on sides and make it hard for bulb to contact good..... It may also be possible to put a little tinfoil along side of bulb base and "shim" it over tighter in socket! Now there is the possibility that the bottom of base contacts aren't making good connection, - so check and see if they look clean, or need to be "scraped-or polished". You might also increase "length" of contacts by adding a small drop of solder to each one... make sure you don't run it in between and connect both contacts, only a small amount of solder needed, (like 5-10 thousanthsof an onch), - try to keep contacts near same length, -- easy to sand or file down high one to match!
I worked in BMW garage 30 years ago, and at that time most of light sockets were moulded into the refelctors, - which makes it hard to replace just the socket,- you can cut socket off and install new one in hole and use JB-weld or something to re-attach socket to reflector, (and if you are careful it won't be very obvious from outside car! Some of newer european cars now have the "plugable" sockets that are removed to put in bulbs, instead of pulling off the lenses! --In this case it is a simple job to just cut the wires and put on new one, and insulate wires! You may be able to cut and tape them in an area that is covered by trunk lining, and then you won't even be able to tell wires are "spliced"!

hi there you have a bad earth connection check the plug going into the light unit usually all you need to do is rub the connections with sandpaper to give a good point of contact also check the bulb holder and do the same with sandpaper jock

Use a volt meter to test wire. If it checks out fine then you do have an issue with the socket itself. This should be an easy fix if you cannot do it, find a friend who can. Do not let a shop overcharge you for this one.

It sounds as if your plug joining the connector is corroded or loose.
The only way to repair it is to replace the connector plug on the wires to the lamp.
If the lamp pins are burnt you may need to replace the light unit itself as well as the plug.

siunds like a loose wire in the holder, might be best seeing an auto electrician if you cant see it yourself cause if it touches the car body its likely to short out and take other things with it

It could be the wire, the connection or more likely ... the switch. Take it to the dealer....they'll fix it pronto.
