lets say humans no longer had to talk.

they would lose their voice one day or another won't they?
then how long would it take for humans to only be able to croak a bit and not be able to talk properly?
hundreds of years? or thousands?

and what would be the process of humans losing their voices?
because of the genes?

It would probably take a several hundred thousand years or maybe forever. In order for this to happen, someone would have to be born with the inability to talk and to spread that trait to offspring. Things can happen a lot faster if there is an evolutionary advantage, but it's pretty hard to see what would be the advantage of not being able to talk. If there is no advantage to not being able to talk, it would be sort of like still having an appendix when there is no use for it. The trait would just continue to hang around uselessly.
