I didn't start my period until I was 15 and a sophomore in high school. I have 2 kids, and have had no problems at all with fertility or anything else. I'm now a grandmother.

Some of us just develop a little later. It's not uncommon. So, don't worry. Especially If either you or dad where late bloomers.

Like many have advised, if your daughter hasn't started her period by 17 or 18, talk to her doctor. And too little body fat can reduce a hormone levels. If your daughter is extremely thin and/or very athletic, that may delay her getting her first period.

Okay, we all know that YOU are the one in 8th grade, not your "daughter". Because you would know that periods are not something that a girl wants. The normal range is 12-16, but these days it's 8-17.

I was 11, but I heard it is usually around the time your mother starts, so maybe around the age you did? Bit its also more accurate if she has a sister, I was 11 and 3 months when I started mine, shes was 11 and 6 months. The normal age to start is 11-14. If by the time shes 16 and hasn't started..then you need to see a doctor.

Some don't start till after 16 years old, I wouldn't worry about it. What age did you start, I did at 10 yrs, old There was a girl on here that was worried and she was 14, it will come when the time is right. We can't predict that it is a work of nature. Does she have any pain, of not wait till16 then I would take her to the Dr. My gosh why rush such a thing, it is miserable.====

If she is very active in sports maybe not for a while. My sister plays 4 sports a year and just got it at 14. They say girls get it between 10 years and 16 years of age. But you can always talk to her doctor. Good luck

Usually girls get their period between 11-15. More at the earlir end but it is not uncommon for a girl to be a little older, especialy if she is a very athletic person. Be patient....I assume you have had al the talks on what it all means?

I think it depends on the person. I started mine when I was 12 and I had a friend that didn't start hers until she was 16.

It varies from girl to girl. I have two nieces and they started at VERY different ages.
One who is a lil on the heavy side started at 11 the other one who is very active and skinny started at 16. Nature will take it's course but it she is concerned go ahead and make her first gyn appointment and they will be able to calm your concerns.

If she hasn't started by age 18, then consult a doctor. Normal age range is 9-18. Personally, i was 11 when it started.
