There are a few answers for your question.
1) If you have alergies, asthma, or other similar problems, it is generally recommended to replace your filters every month. If your system is heating only, just do it during the heating season.
If you have air conditioning, you'll have to get 12 filters.
2) If you don't have breathing problems, and have a heat only system, recommend replace twice during the heating season.
With a/c and heat, recommend four times per year(every three months).

The final guy almost had it best. The era would desire to be as short as a million month or as long as 3 months. the sole undertaking i disagree with him on is the three %. of whispy filters. they'd means come aside and the fibers can clog deep in the evaporator. i could use the 3m you have, make effective they're the paper pleated ones and plan on changing them on the 1st of the month. protecting up with this could insure an prolonged existence on your cooling equipment.

Maybe 2 or 3 times a year, if that. It depends on the amount of dust in your apartment and indoor pollutants like smoke, allergens etc. If you have pets you may want to do it 3 or more times.

Every 30 days, but I always give it a quick check to make sure. We have a dog and two rabbits, so sometimes it needs to be changed sooner than that to keep it running efficiently. On the opposite hand, if you have a relatively clean, dust-free and pet-free home, you might be able to stretch it out a bit longer.

Don't quote me on this but I think you are suppose to do it at least once a month or maybe once every 2 months.
