Well I am just 51 and went threw the menopause myself a few years ago. Have not ever had a hysterectomy. But the hot flashes were driving me mad. I went on some low dose hormone pills that the doctor had me to take. I did that for a few years, just to get me passed that part. (I don't do patches of any kind.) I no longer take any thing now and I am fine (as fine as far as the hot flashes go). I do suffer from depression now and have for a long long time.

I worked in cancer research for several years in the 70's and
80's and the doctors were saying then that replacement therapy and possibly birth control pills were responsible for breat cancer and other forms also but mainly breast. Therefore, I have never taken estrogen and had some discomfort with hot flashes as well. In fact I still do but much less often. It's never been anything that I couldn't grit my teeth for a few minutes and handle though. That's not to say that some ladies had it much worse than me. I understand that.

Hi, I'm your age and went through the same thing you did 3 years ago. I had a worse reaction to the medication than the hot flashes, near to passing out was far better than the meds. I dumped the meds and went it alone, it's working!

It may have tossed my body to where it thought it didn't belong, but the body adjusts. My thought process is this is a normal (after adjustment) thing for my body, I don't need medicines. Perhaps my brain has as much to do with it as anything else!

I had a hysterectomy about 15 years ago and was put on Ogen. I've never had any menopause symptoms. I may start some now. I am going to try to get along with out the Ogen.

I hit menopause when I was 43 due to the chemo I had for treatment of breast cancer. I can't take hormones of any kind and I can't even use the natural therapies. The meds I had to take really increased the hot flashes. I'm off the meds now and the hot flashes are rare. Be careful when using HRT because it can increase your risk of breast cancer.

This is the weirdest question I've seen on here in a month of Sundays. I'm having fun trying to imagine where you're going with it. You certainly have a very unusual mind. I don't mean that in a bad way. Just saying.

No, be very careful with that. Hormone therapy can raise your risk of breast cancer. I had a hysterectomy also. If you need something, try out natural solutions. Do you have a whole foods or natural vitamin store nearby? They are often very knowledgeable. I'm taking "Maxine for women". A friend who is an organic gardener recommended it.

I had a hysterectomy in 2000 and have been on Premarin ever since.I still have hot flashes. My friend takes some over the counter herbal remedy and she said it works fine with her symptoms.

i never took eny thing and i suffered all my days with the curse.i had periods until i was 60,and was moody and depressed some days i couldn't get out of bed.i would have such severe anxiety right before i started that i nearly lost my mind,my poor Hubie[boyfriend back then } put up with a lot from me.i was so nervous i tried killing him a few times.i never could get my Dr. to help me,so i found a way to cope thru praying and meditating and it worked OK for me.i was the worst person in the world for PMS and all the bad complications associated with a woman and her curse.i thought i was never going to finish having periods.
