so that he could turn in and issue some justice.Yes!

When I returned to the US (I had been out-of-country for 10 years0 I was ticketed for"cruising through a stop sign" by some strutting young law enforcement peacock. I met him in court in Tampa.

My own naivete was driven home to me as I was introduced to what had become of the US Court system.

I explained that the intersection had such a radical dip before the main road that no one could negotiate the turn at anything over 1 or 2 mph without destroying their Detroit iron. I also explained that I more or less stopped and there no traffic was present save the police car speeding by at the time. The cop slammed on his brakes and took 70 or 80 feet to stop. I pulled over in a business and waited for him since I realized by his reaction that he was a true crime fighter certain to track me down and administer punishment and satisfy Justice.
He passed my location going about 50 in a 30 and I had to yell at him as he sped by. He then slammed on his brakes again and left rubber backing up on the thoroughfare so that he could turn in and issue some justice.

I explained all this to the judge who waited until I finished. I noticed that he was not really listening. but waiting. Since the officer had violated so many laws trying to cite me I figured I was OK.

Thew judge said, "so you just sort of cruised very slowly into the interesction?"

I said "exactly, your Honor"!

He slamed the gavel and said "$10 fine and court costs.

Next!"

I learned then that no judge should ever have a lifetime tenure on any court.

Yes but not for anything I done.

It was to try to get guardianship of a 17 year old boy. After a few court dates, the judge worked around his mother and we got him--that turned out to be a huge mistake, that boy was nothing but trouble and left my home after being here a couple of months--then he went on to stab a guy a few days later on Christmas Eve last year.
