Does a team have to be a "winner" to get your support?

Or can you, have you, do you support a "losing" team?

can't say that i have, but i don't necessarily support teams just because of their records. i guess it's coincidental that i support teams like the SPURS, the COLTS, and the YANKEES because of the teams as a whole, not so much the history of the wins and losses. u have 2 b more of a fan of the sport itself to consider supporting a team weather they win or lose, which in my mind, is the way it should b anyway.

There is nothing worse than a fare-weather fan! I live in New England and have watched multiple people over the last year go from saying the Celtics aren't even worth watching to wearing their Celtics hats, shirts, and jackets while touting that they are a #1 fan. . . I grew up in Jersey and have been a Nets fan for 30 years - and they have been worse than bad for long stretches during that time, but they are my favorite team, and whether they're up by 20 or down by 20 I watch the game to the last second. . .

I'm a 49ers fan. I have seen them go from 2-14 to 4-12 to a great 7-9, then to a 3-9 record, and losing 8 straight games this season. I have also been a Giants fan, and aside from watching Barry Bonds hit home runs, nothing has been good for the Giants and it should continue getting worse.

I've been a celtics fan since Pierce got there and it has been hard to watch these last couple years. Watching all those young players not being able to close out games was frustrating. Last season I hit my breaking point when Pierce got hurt. They had the worst supporting cast in the league. Thank god Kevin Mchale is such a tool. This season has completely renewed my love for the Celts.

I kno that this is not basketball but yea i have. The Detroit Lions. If you have eva been to the Detroit area ever you would know. One playoff win in the last 50 years. People complain when their teams get to the super bowl a bunch and don't win, SHUT UP!!! You know what. The Lions haven't even been their in my father's lifetime. You know why, cuz they've never been there. I know they are 6-6 this year but they always find a way to collapse. they're already doing it. Yea the Lions are bad. Thank you for lettin me go on my little rant. had to get it outta my system.

back in the 60s i supported an o-10 -1 team. since then they have been to 8 super bowls winning 5 , and maybe going again this year, its roll and ebb. they have had a few losing seasons like all teams do. so yes i could have, can, and will if they lose again. supported them dallas cowboys, texas rangers dallas stars dallas mavewrecks and texas longhorns and kentucky wildcats

Of course you support a losing team. That when they need your help the most.

I think supporting your team whether or not they are winning makes someone a TRUE fan. It's easy to be a fan when a team is on top.

i believe supporting a team is about the passion, and if your heart is with the team then it doesnt really matter if they win or lose.
of course winning is better, losing hurts for a while, but a real fan just gets over it.
Its all about the patriotism - take England Football fans, yes we lose and we win (lose alot) but we still love our team!
