I think the Asians are the largest group of minorities I believe it was in the 80's when the government open doors to Asia, and closed immigration to Europeans. We used to have a manufacturing sector when the Europeans came, and now with the influx of Asians, we have a service sector. Currently Caucasians are the largest, but it is predicted that they will be the minority within a couple decades.

White is the majority but it is not a real ethnicity in my opnion. Europeans don't see white as an ethnicity. Italian, german, mexican or hispanic, or african american, those are ethnic groups. You can becaome part of an ethnic group, white is a racial group. White is the racial majority. Ethnic wise, I think it is German americans followed by irish then hispanic then african americans and then other europeans like dutch, french, english, scottish and so on. The stats are really muddled because in 1960s the major ethnicity for whites was english by about 50% and by 2000 it appears that people have switched ethnicity. For example Irish is techinically the largest ethnic group now as something like 40% of whites are now claiming that ancestry yet in 1960 its was like 8%. We know that people or their children have been changing their ancestry from Irish to english for who knows what reason

Interesting Q that has made me think.
I am curious too. From an Historical aspect, it is very complicated.

It is just now "White", Asian, African, and so on.
Even "white" has a race. They came from all parts of Europe.
Yet they are all Americans. Interesting too.

"White" is not a race. An Italian, a German, and an Irishman have distinctly different genetic backgrounds.
