My 9 month old, who used to be a great sleeper, is not sleeping anymore. Starting at 3 months he slept 11 hours straight through. The past 2 months he's been getting worse and worse. He now will only fall asleep if I am holding him, as soon as I put him in his crib he wakes up. I used to let him cry it out and still would but he now pulls himself up in his crib and doesn't know how to get back down. He wakes up several times a night. At 6am he wakes up, I give him a bottle, after about 30 minutes he goes back to sleep for about 2 hours, which I think means he really isn't sleeping enough at night.
I don't want to keep giving into him, I just found out I am pregnant again, so I really need to fix this sleep problem.....I am exhausted!
My husband thinks we should just let him stay up till he falls asleep on his own and let him sleep with us, but that doesn't promote very good sleep habits!
Please help....I need sleep!

Do you think he might be teething? My daughter woke frequently during the night throughout the periods when she was teething.

At 9 months she's already stepped forward truly of a napping development. understand that normally babies are in basic terms colicky. try those little sugar pills referred to as Humphreys, available over-the-counter at any pharmacy. they might do the trick. If no longer, try switching up your recurring by doing some thing new. My daughter used 2 bypass to sleep 2 the sound of working water. i offered this bear that mocked those sounds so I now no longer had 2sit interior the bathing room together with her till she fell asleep. try new issues...they only could artwork

Has he had a checkup recently? Sometimes babies develop reflux, ear infections, or just plain old teething that makes it harder to sleep for them. What's his bedtime routine like? You might try extending the entire routine so that there is more of a process for him to follow... for example, my 9 month old plays for a bit, eats her dinner, takes a bath, gets a bottle, and has a good snuggle, followed by a song... It takes a while, but usually by the first few lines of " Mockingbird " she's drowsing.

This isn't a sleep problem that needs to be fixed. This is normal for your son's stage of development. Babies this age need to be comforted to sleep, or back to sleep when they wake up at night. Your baby will sleep through the night when he is developmentally ready to do so.

You shouldn't be trying to enforce adult sleeping habits on a 9 month old to begin with. Your husband is right. Let him be... He will fall into a rhythm soon enough.

If you don't believe me, ask a pediatrician or child psychologist.
