such as anger, jealousy, greed etc. is there ever a time when these feelings benefit us by giving in to them? or should we always deny, deny, deny them?

Anger tell us something is wrong and needs to be changed, either in ourselves or others. Jealousy tells us we have some issues with what other people have and need to look carefully at that within us. Greed tells us that we have our priorities in the wrong place and need to change that before it's too late.

You should never deny them, that is very unhealthy. When we look at our shortcomings, we can change the negatives and gain more positives so that we are better people. That is what's called growth.

Mature, mentally healthy, responsible people always want to improve themselves.

Experiencing a wide range of feelings is very healthy. Experiencing any negative feeling in an extreme manner however, can have negative consequences.
Never deny your feelings, it is best to find out why you are feeling a certain way if it is bothering you.
If you have someone you trust to talk with that is the best thing, or write in a journal to work things out yourself.
