The problem is when I turn on my computer, it shows the HP Screen (normal) and then it goes to the Windows logo loading screen. Thats the problem. It just stays like that forever. And the bars are actually moving by the way.

Currently I'm in Safe Mode with Networking. My operating system is Windows XP.

If you need any more info, just say so please.

Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

My laptop has 2 hard drives. Both 80GB each. Although only 1 of them has the critical stuff on it.

There is a method by which you can attempt to repair a Windows installation, it is called "The Repair Console". To use the console read the following.

USING THE WINDOWS REPAIR CONSOLE

Put your XP disk into your CD drive and restart your system. This will start the XP installation process. When you come to the screen that asks if you want to install XP or if you would like to “Repair” XP, choose Repair. This will open the repair console command prompt. At the prompt, type: chkdsk /r. (There is a space between the k and the /. Now hit “Enter”. The repair should now start. Allow it to run until it stops. This can take some time, so be patient.

If all goes well, XP will replace any and all missing operating system files.

There may be errors on your hard drive, try running scandisk in safe mode

1) Open My Computer
2) Right click your hard drive
3) click Properties
4) Click on the Tools tab
5) Under "Error-checking" press the "Check Now" button
6) Check both boxes, "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors"
7) Get a snack as this will take a while

Unfortunately if your hard drive does have errors it is usually caused by mechanical failure, which means your hard drive is on its last legs, but it may also be cause by software. I would recommend backing up your important data just in case. If more errors appear on the hard drive then it is probably mechanical failure and you will need to replace your hard drive.

The easiest way to fix this would be to just erase everything. Make sure you back up your data first.
Or if you have some computer knowledge, you can try restoring your registry. For that, you would need a bootable floppy.
