all clean carpets. My wife and I are getting older, and what we really are looking for is one that pushes and pulls easily. I also hear some of the lightweights are also weak. Tell me what brand and model you have that works good and is easy to use. Approx. cost too if you can (US dollars).

I have cleaned houses and offices for many years and have used eurekas and hoovers. The Simplicity is the best on the market. They have different models. The filtering system is good durable and sucks up very well.

The number of amps should not be used to compare suction power. The amp figure simply indicates how much power it takes to run a particular device.

My wife has arthritis, so I opted to buy a self-propelled, upright model (Hoover Wind Tunnel w/paper bags) Paper bags are less messy to deal with than the bagless models. The Hoover had great suction and was easy to propel, but it was somewhat pricey at $300.

Consumer reports rates vacuum cleaners and at the time we bought the Hoover it was rated #1. You might want to check current ratings and see if they've changed. Good luck.

The best and most lightest model of vacuum I have found and use is a Panasonic upright it is easy to maneuver and lift and very powerful has stood up to alot of use and they are inexpensive that is if you know how to wheel and deal at your local vacuum store, the model I have was selling for about one hundred forty dollars I walked out with a deal for one hundred ten dollars with my vacuum, have been very happy with it, I even plan on purchasing another Panasonic and using my old Panasonic for my housecleaning business since my vacuum is so trustworthy and powerful Good Luck !

I have a Dirt Devil self-propelled vacuum. It's bagless and the dust cannister is easy to remove when you need to empty it. The only drawback is that the filters are expensive (the last one was $28). The filters are supposed to last a year, but I have multiple pets and mine only last about six months (I also clean the filter by lightly tapping it on the inside of the trash can when I empty the dust cannister).

My vacuum was on sale and I paid about a hundred dollars for it.

I have a Hoover Spirit canister with a Quadraflex Powermatic motorized brush . I doubt if this model is still on the market because I have had it so long. However, you want to ask for a model that has the nozzle/brushes motorized and it moves under its own power.
