People are not 'hiding behind fake names'. They are using aliases for safety. Theses days you have to be really naive to think what you are suggesting. There are so many dangers out there due to the internet and technology. It's about safety. It's common sense not to put your personal and identifiable information on a site like this. If you do - you really are risking your life. Some more reasons are that people want to ask embarrassing questions anonymously and some people like to 'troll'. You have your name, gender, and location available for everyone and anyone to see at your own risk. You have been warned.

No hiding here, not even in my screen name. I really get annoyed when somebody uses an anime name when they have a perfectly good name already. Anime names are not cool, they are SAD, all you Tetsuos, Sakuras, Kitsunes etc.
