1x1=1 one only because when you multiply any number with one you get the number you multiplied one with. So all it is just basically one group with one person so it would be 1. The first number in 1x1 would be the number of groups and then the second would be how much is in each group thus seeing how there is merely 1 person in 1 exsisting group it would equal the number 1


basically what you do when you are multiplying numbers like 3x4 you get 12 because you arranged four sets of the number three thus getting the number twelve.




Merely memorizing it is okay but it is better if understand it.

But of course if you multiplied 3x3 why would you get 9? Well the thing is the first number in the 3x3 is the number of groups the second is how many is in the groups so there is or 1 group (3) 2nd (3) and the third (3) which overall equals nine. Basically if you know your addition then multiplication comes with ease.
