well first you either need a USB cord to hook up to your computer from your camera, or you need to take out the SD card from the camera and up it into your Multimedia outlets in your computer (example http://www.lexar.com/image/mutli_reader.jpg) If you do not have a card reader, then using a USB cord with the camera will do.
Hook up the camera with the USB cord. Attach the the other end of the cord into computer, and turn on your camera. A little bubble should pop up from the bottom right corner of the screen and if you wait a few seconds, a pop up will open up asking you what you want to do with the pictures. X the box and open up my computer. In my computer look up your camera's name and open the folder. You should see a bunch of pictures in JPEG format. If there are no picutres, look a bit futher into the camera's folders until you do. when you find them, copy the pictures you want from the camera onto your desktop.
and then drag and drop the pictures you want, (delete the one's you don't, both on the camera through mycomputer and on your desktop) on to your external hard drive through my computer and your done.

Start, right click, explorer.
Highlight the pics on your C drive (Shift+mouse). Pick and drop. Watch it go. As simple as that.
Double check to make sure it is sitting in the external USB drive.
If you just want to keep the pics in C but want to copy them to external, hold the Ctrl key down when you pick and drop.

Well there are several ways to do this, but i would suggest checking the owners manual. Different cameras use different ways of moving pictures to a hard drive.

use windows explorer to drag the picture from one location to the other.
Both should show up as external drives in explorer.
