probably best to use a carpet cleaning agent. Any hardware store carries cleaning fluids for carpet.

Spray the spot with the cleaner, and use a fresh water rinse with a Wet-Dry vac, to suck the liquid out of the fibers. Agitate the spot with the vacuum while continuing to vacuum out the coffee, water, and soap.
This is the best way to remove all the coffee and detergent.
Use cold water.

Maybe, but it may damage the rug. Try a solution of water and baking soda. Mix runny and apply. Let it dry and break it up with a brush. Vacuum away. Cold water and club soda also work well. Use a detergent as a last alternative.
