all was running fine for 1year no changes made then all off a suddan my computer started playing up it would not close down when asked. and started saying memory error.so i changed the memory thats error has gone. i get a massage about my main drives need updating or my bios i have update all. off them and still my coumpter still not shut down when i ask. it is computer is a AMD3000+ 64 BITE

I have unpluged all usb divices one at a time and still it will not close down. i have reformated the hard drive and reinstalled windows xp home. please dose any one have any idear what to try next. thanks.

I had the same problem. Let me save you a lot of headache.

I diagnosed it as a rogue virus after weeks and weeks of work on the problem. I used a virus removal program ($120). That fixed it real good and it also is now preventing such a thing from happening again.

I got my computer working perfect again.

Here is a site I just located that deals with this problem, or you can do a Google search. That's what I did. Just type "XP shutdown problem" without the quotes, into the Google search bar.

You can also go to the Windows Download site. I believe that Microsoft has a fix for this.
