If it is gas, my son when he was an infant had this pretty bad. I discovered it was a lot worse after he had Tylenol from getting his shots. And I was taking a daily painkiller because I had a kidney stone from the time I was 7 months pregnant until he was 1.5 months old and I was breastfeeding so he was getting that in him too (it was prescribed). But his problem seemed to go away after I got off that med, and I tried to avoid Tylenol with him.

What kind of formula you using? He could have colic do to milk protien sensitivity if that is the case, he would need to be on a soy formula (i found the soy to be constipating). Maybe a lactose intolorance, then lactofree formula. These are highly unlikely if there is not a family history of it though. My baby was showing colic symptoms, she was gassy and fussy. I put her on enfamil gentlease formula (reduced lactose and partialy broken down milk protiens) it worked for her. Some swear by Gripe water, i tried it at fisrt I thaught it worked, but not so sure. Mylicon did nothing. If she's severe colic you could try Nutramigen formula expensive but worth it if it works. Switching around formula should be ran by your MD. She may have acid reflux. Their digestive system is still immature maybe it just has to work out it's kinks.

Are you sure it's gas? Get some Mylicon gas drops, and if it doesn't work then get into a Dr and force them to check for GERDs.

My daughter was written off as Colicky for the first 3 months of her life..... screaming and crying ALL NIGHT LONG in intense pain. Many visits to Dr's and ERs gained us nothing, and then one night the visit to the ER finally got us answers.

Turns out she had GERD (Acid Reflux) and the first DR to care enough to put a stethescope to her stomach and esophagus said she could literally HEAR the stomach acids going from her stomach all the way up through her throat. It was burning her, literally. We started her on Zantac and everything was fine :)

Just don't always listen to the Drs, you know as a mother if it's something more!! Try everything you can for gas, and if it all fails, get him checked for GERDs

Ok this is weird but it has worked for everybody in my family lay the hairdryer on your bed not his bed pointing away from the baby see what setting works best leave that on for a while. Don't leave him alone with the dryer goin. make sure its not a super loud one either. It may help calm him. Also try some gas drops for infants may help too

Sometimes nothing helps a baby with colic. My daughter had colic and cried from 10pm to 3 or 4am everynight for about 2 months with nothing helping her or soothing her. She just had to grow out of it on her own.

Hopefully you are breastfeeding since babies don't get so fussy on the breast milk. If you are using a formula talk with your Dr. about one that will be easier on babies tummy. Try
wearing your baby with a sling: maya wrap, native sling, moby wrap, etc. I agree with the above info also, and please make sure you have lots of help. Moms can get overloaded with a fussy baby and feel overwhelmed.

Stay calm, keep the house calm and quiet. Talk slow and in low voices. Feed him slowly, and BEFORE he starts to cry for food.

Get a baby pouch sling. THey are PRICELESS for colicy babies.

People make them and sell them on ebay. I honestly dont know how mom's survive without them.

Baby might cry the first few times you use it, but after a while he'll start to remain calm. It really cuts down on the fussing and misery, plus it keeps your hands free.

Running the vaccum helped quiet my son. I used to put it in the corner, and let it run for hours. I also used Hylands Colic tablets.

I would hold my daughter on my lap with her back to my stomach and pull her knees in and out- also laid her on my shoulder and her belly would press up against shoulder. I think it relieved the gas - good luck! it will pass
