Hmm mate I'm Muslim and the flag with a crescent flag doesn't represent a country it represents a religion, Muslims don't run about burning bibles

To Ruth: Why the Union Jack? I'm British...

My point is why would you offend a religion?
I don't want to burn a flag, I'd like to know the law fool. The same way someone may ask if it's legal to drive without insurance, they may have no intention of doing it but are wondering.

There is no specific offence but it could be an offence under such law as the Criminal Damage Act and certainly the Public Order Act but but would have to fit certain circumstances.

If in a Public Place, it would constitute a Public Order Offence.

There are various other offences that could be latched on, such as:

1. Incitement to Riot.
2. Offences against a particular Religion.
3. Intent to make a Racial Slur or incite Racial Hatred.

However; pretty much you would be left alone with a few odd looks.

I guess if you had a crowd of you and burning flags in a prominent place such as outside the House of Commons with TV cameras recording the action, you would possibly be recorded by M.I.5. with all of the consequences that would follow.

There is possibly too many goons burning flags around the world already, so I wouldn't bother.

Of course, if you were seen to be doing this by a rampant ''Green Earther/Stop Global Warming person, you could be charged under the various Air Pollution Acts of Parliament, and your Carbon Footprint integrity questioned.

Stick to smoking, there is enough vilification in that action.

No, not illegal but then again neither is burning effigies in the street whilst brandishing a machete, (if you live in certain backwards places).
But here in the UK you'll probably be fined for littering and polluting the environment, or some other made up crime that the officials can get money from you.
Good luck with the burning then.

Flag burning per se is not illegal. There are no laws on the statute books relating to this.

However, depending on the circumstances, you could be charged with breach of the peace or inciting public disorder.

No it isn't illegal to burn flags in the UK. The US tried to make it illegal to desecrate the Stars & Stripes but was considered to be an infringement of free speech, which, I believe, is the same case here in the UK.

Causing a public nuisance. Littering the street, Endangering life, Some obscure local by law.
If someone wanted to shop you they could do it under any of these headings.

Why bring religion into it?

no offence meant. i love my land and i will fight for it as we are fighting to leave the union once and for all so we can be free men

No it's not. It's illegal to use a swastika as an icon or to use an image of Her Majesty. We bear no brief for the burning of the Star Wankled Banner or the Crescent Moon. Defacing a pound coin is a crime. Insulting the prophet Mohammed is not.

no, its not an offence in the UK as was proven in 2002, 2003, and 2005 when large crowds of protestors in London calling for the genocide of all non-muslims repeatedly burned UK and US flags and no action was taken
