i have sat with my legs crossed probably starting when i was around seven now i am fourty. i cross them every time i sit down, eventually after a long priod of crossing my top leg gets numb. i have heard that crossing your legs can cause vein problems, back problems, and hip problems, i dont have any at all, but is this true that it is bad? do you cross your legs also? and are you aware it might be bad?

There is nothing wrong in crossing your legs but try not to stay in that position for a long time. You are pressuring your legs with your weight and the position itself makes some tension on your legs making the blood circulation harder. After a while your legs may become numb. This situation can be more frequent or appear faster if you have difficulties with blood circulation in your legs caused overweight, for example, or other "conditions".
If you switch your position more often you'll see it no longer happens.
And about the back problems: being with both legs crossed would harm your back more than with 1 leg crossed. Anyways you probably notice that the most comfortable you can get in that position is with your back in the back of the sofa or the chair, because i needs an extra help to keep the natural balance.
I repeat, try switching positions more often, then you won't push some of your body parts so much and hurt.

Hope this helps :)

Yes, it is bad to cross your legs as much as you do. You are cutting off the your bled from circulating.

Um, I wouldn't think it is. But It's probably not good to sit like that ALL the time.
