Yep, I don't Mind using the Oil to Save My Family from a Major accident Sorry saving that way is Not a choice...... Little light bulbs and a few degrees less on the thermostat is OK Not this though Give me Detroit Steel baby!

Save YOUR family? What about the family in a normal car? They'll be flattened. There's blood right there. As for a pedestrian - they stand absolutely no chance as your car comes at them at literally head height.

This arms race for the biggest car possible is just absurd. People will start buying tanks any day now. "Oh it's to protect little Tarquin, I only want what's best for him. The fact it's got a 105mm gun on the front is irrelevent"

Agreed, I have two accidents involving deer, and if I hadn't had an SUV, I more than likely would have had some personal injuries.

If you hit a deer going 50mph with a small car, your chances of escaping personal injury are small, however in the case of the SUV, it was only damage to the vehicle.

I will continue to drive an SUV.

I just can't justify driving my country deeper into dependency on unstable foreign countries and increasing the possibility of war and terrorism under the false belief that a heavy vehicle that is more prone to rollovers will protect me and mine.

You have no "guarantee' that driving a heavier car will save anyone....... each accident is different. The whole SUV theory/concept is nothing more than keeping up with the Jones'.
