We have been friends for many years. Many, many years.
I had to tell her one day that she was hurting me, and had been for many years, by the she spoke to me.
When I finally decided to tell her this truth, she said that our friendship was unhealthy and although I have tried to make contact by e-mail a few times she will not reply. I am trying again, but in a different manner. It has been months now. What do you think

This is just a note, to remind you that, I Love You.
I miss you, and that even though we can be a pain in each other's ****, we should be able to get over this mountain. Since our roots run deep, we should be able to take a trimming every twenty years to help the blooming of our flowers and the growth of new branches.
Please reconsider, as you will always be my BBF, even though you refuse to speak to me ever again.

With Love at Christmas and always
Lizzy

You know your friend better than anybody here, but my personal opinion is that some parts are a little sappy and run at too great of length. Particularly the roots metaphor, which is mediocre, a tiny bit haughty, and redundant in conjunction with saying "we should be able to get over this mountain." Overall, I would have worded it differently so that its more straightforward, but I know you would not have sent her what I would write, because I believe in being honest and blunt, and don't believe in circumlocution or appealing to sentimentality.

I would also have changed BBF to BFF. BBF could be interpreted as "Big, Beautiful Female."

Same thing happen to me and I went 10 years without talking to him, he was my best friend. I found him and wanted to talk well we went out but thats it. I went back a couple of months later to have someone tell me he was not there (he was) So I got the hint. Its been a year again now-- I miss him.

That is a nice open effort to repair your relationship, and if she ignores that, it is no fault of yours.
I think your friend is missing out on a wonderful person.
