It has always been thought that upperclassmen should receive the trophy. There is no rule on the matter. However, no sophomore has received the trophy in the past. All that being said in listening to sports analysts many of whom cast a ballot they have said that this should not be an overwhelming factor. Most of them believe that Tebow's stats are so unbelievable that he should carry the day.

It definitely should not. What is the difference between a true sophomore (Tebow) and a redshirt freshman (Bradford)? Most of the good ones go pro after their junior year therefore a sophomore should not be penalized and an upperclassman should not be rewarded for career accomplishments.

Unwritten rules are BS and should have no bearing on the vote. Only written rules should apply. I personally have no problem with seniors only being eligible. Or that the Heisman being awarded for a players career. Just change the written rules. To me it's just like a married person that wants to screw around. Get a divorce and do your thing. What has that last statement got to do with college football? Not a thing.

It should affect him, but not necessarily keep him from it. Every other football player, since the award has been given, has had the same prejudice, why should Tebow be any different? I think it should go to Dixon, but he has no chance since his being injured affects him getting it(they went from best team in the country to 3 losses in a row when he went down). Second I would have Mcfadden, third would be a tie between the QB Tebow, Colt, and the kid out of Texas Tech.

There seems to be an unwritten rule against sophomores winning the Heisman.

The most glaring example was in 1992 when Gino Torreta East-Coasted Marshall Faulk out of a Heisman.

No it should not but McFadden on Arkansas still should get the Heisman, Tebow stats are unbelievable but what McFadden has done in his career at Arkansas is even better and he should have got the Heisman last year as well

No. If he's the best player in college football (and I believe he is) he should get the award. McFadden wasn't even in the top 3 running backs in the country in yardage or TDs, and had a number of games where he was not a factor.

Tebow deserves the award and should win it.

well, most of the time it is Juniors and seniors who get it, so no doubt it may affect some voters in their decisions, but Tebow deserves it.

Yes, if he is that great he has two more years to win the thing. It would not be right to rob a senior of this opportunity. In fact I think only seniors should be eligible.

we don't know. If I can vote, I will vote for Tim. The trophy rewards the player's performances, not for how long he plays in College.
