In the summer I got a new, fairly budget Toshiba L40 laptop from PC World with Vista installed. I have a problem that's getting worse - sometimes when I'm playing video I get the blue screen of death, it doesnt happen every time I'm watching something but it happens fairly frequently and only ever crashes when there's a browser with a video playing.
Someone suggested to me to see if I had the latest driver downloaded, I know what video card it is but is it ok to just download another driver since there must already be one installed? And is it possible that PCWorld (yeah i know they're crap) sell laptops with the wrong/not sufficient driver installed?? Or can you think of another reason for this problem

Oh yeah I also sometimes hear a system beep when I'm playing video, but itdoesn't seem to effect performance. I sometimes hear it continuously when it crashes and have to take the battery out to make it stop!
The BSOD says different things each time but a common one mentions checking whether hardware is installed properly and also something about dumping files

I don't think its overheating, as I use a cooling pad with fans and this problem occurs whether its been a minute since I switched it on or 3 hours

Try buying more memory and installing it if u haven't already, i would max out the memory if its affordable to do so. Go to device manager and download the new drivers. You can right click my computer and click on (properties or system properties) to see how much memory you have and getting to the (device manager). Click on device manager and expand (display adapter) and right click the (name of the driver e.g. ATI MOBILITY 128 AGP) and click on (update driver). A window will open asking you to choose a option click on the (first one) then click next until u get to a window that will start to search for the appropriate drivers and just sit back and your computer will do it from there. If this doesn't work try system restore and go back to a earlier date when ur comp. was working properly. Since your running vista premium at 1GB i would go with 2GB or max out to 4GB for smoother operation. Good luck!

If it says your exhibit driving force is crashing then somewhat an replace is so as. to supply you precise guidelines on how i'd want your OS so traditionally. Google your OS to discover specific way. cope with Panel - Hardware/Sound - gadget supervisor Scroll magnificent all the way down to coach/exhibit adapters click(small triangle many times), to brind a small drop down menu, then suitable click on your adapter Now attempt to interchange driving force. If there is no replace then uninstall the driving force, exchange off your pc for a minute or so then turn it back on, once you log on your driving force will attempt to re-installation. do this on the least 3 activities if unsuccessful. be conscious; once you notice any warnings beside any of your gadgets replace them besides.
