This is my first winter with an inground pool in GA. I've heard running the filter for 4 hours is enough. Is that correct?

That sounds about right usually between 4-5 hrs. That is what I do here in S.C.

call a pool dealer there, i live in TN and only run mine 1/2 hr a day,

if u are trying to stop it from freezing than get some inner tubes and float them under your cover.thay will move around and stop the water from freezeing
