Is it absolutely necessary to choose one? I do my best to look on the bright side of life, trying to be positive as much as i can, every single day since 45 years ago....

I think you should be both positive and realistic...you can try to stay on the "sunny side of life", but that can't always happen.....you have to be realistic about life as well. my husband only wants positive things, but he forgets that life isn't always positive...that there is bad with the good and you have to look at and deal with both.

Positive, because what exactly is realistic? That is a relative term and the line of where reality lies, is drawn at a different place by every person.

It would be better if everyone was more positive and carefree but in this world you have to be realistic or your dreams and other aspects of your life will be crushed

being positive is every bit as realistic as being negative. both are opposite ends of the same coin.

Go through life with both eyes open. Not too negative as to squash hope where it is necessary.
But don't be afraid of being a little positive.
