Marker on furniture?

My son was coloring, and now i have some marker stains on our furniture (not permanent marker). The furniture is light colored wood, and its varnished. The marker color is red. How can i remove the stains?

I would try WD40. Spray on cleaning towel then wipe. Make take a couple or times.
