"Normal" can be seen as a statistical thing. For instance, in the United States it is "normal" to be overweight as in 2/3 of adults are overweight. This is not normal in some other countries, i.e. it is not the statistical average. Other ways of defining "normal" would be to look at ideals--the "ideal type" of a bride in the United States would be a woman in her twenties, for instance, wearing a white dress.

"normal" to me means "without serious defect or side affect".
