I don't know anything about towns much but if u r looking 4 the best city in India to live in then its none other than Kolkata(Calcutta). We've friendly ppl, tolerable weather, no natural calamities, affordable consumer goods, best cricket stadium in India & so much more. Noble prize winners Rabindranath Tagore & Amartya Sen & the Oscar winning director Satyajit Ray r from this city only. The mouth watering delicacies & the historical importance & culture of the city makes it The City of Joy. The British had enough reasons to make it the Indian capital.

Mumbai is such a cliched thing to say - because it's an Indian city that almost everyone has heard of! How about a city in Kerala, the most literate and least corrupted state in India? Bangalore is a lovely city, too.

Mumbai is famous for Bollywood, yes, but from speaking to a LOT of Indians, they say it's just an okay-ish city.
