If so, what did you do for entertainment???

Ok, let me elaborate since there seems to be some confusion! NO, he is NOT a GAY guy, not a Gay couple. Just a young guy that's having a baby with his girlfriend. he doesn't get along with the girl's family so has been exiled from sharing in any of the planning revolved around the baby. He lives alone, the baby will stay with her primarily but he will have visitation, shared custody, whatever. I want him to feel supported too and to have some of his own stuff for the baby and a day to hang out with the fellas and celebrate the birth of his daughter just like she did with her friends and family that he wasn't able to share in. Guys need to feel supported in these things too and somehow they are left out when things aren't going according to plan. i want to give him a "shower" with his friends, but in a more masculine, no wishing well, keg in the crib kind of way!

I had a co-ed baby shower. Guys and Girls come.

If its couples you could let the couples team up for one or two games!!!

Guys don't like games so much and there really not into the baby thing too much.... The best thing would be have a theme (like with any party ie Gameday, Lula, etc) Have the shower in the theme instead of "baby". Mom and dad will just enjoy the baby gifts!!

Oh and food.... guys like to eat!!! Think Sunday football!!!

WOW. That's is a tough situation. take the girl you are wanting to through the shower with and explain to her that your BFF is not wanting an extravagant affair. That she would prefer a simple warm reception with friends and family. Done in a loving and low key profile. Remember successful relationships evolve via communication. Look at this as a learning experience. Either print your own invitations or head off to the dollar store. determine the budget and have fun. Some of the best and most practical decorations are actual items the soon to be mother can use after the party for the baby. I absolutely would have people RSVP simply by calling only one phone and that person puts the person on a list. How hard is that? simple and effective. Streamers a few balloons a cake, some punch and a few finger foods. Play some fun games, buy a simple note book and let everyone write down advice and tips or simple well wishes etc. I through my best friend a baby shower and spent less then $50.00 there were 24 guests and there was plenty food and fun. It can be done, and get everything from the dollar store except the cake. In fact I spent more on the cake then I did anything. I got it at wal mart. I think it was about $20.00 That left me plenty money to buy an awesome gift for my friends new baby. Good luck

Yes, just recently. I have a guy friend who was not in a relationship with the mother. She had her own set of baby showers and my friends and I decided to throw one for him as well b/c since it was two separate households that the child would be growing up in he would need all the things for the baby's room too. As far as games. We just did a basic floating shower that lasted 2hrs. Anyone that wanted to stop by and bring something could. We didn't really do anything for entertainment. We just had food and little party favor gift bags for anyone that wanted them. My friends and I considered doing door prizes or just making it like a house warming party but what we did worked pretty well. Just turn the music up and have fun....

my husband and some work friends did a party/shower for another guy at their office. they had a poker game and people brought diapers to cash in for chips. that way, all these guys didn't have to wander through babies-r-us looking for registry gifts or wonder what little clothes to by for a baby.

there were door prizes (a nice bottle of tequila, a magazine subscription, cigars) that the winners could cash their chips in for at the end of the night.

they had snack foods- nachos, quesadillas, mini burgers and fries- and lots of beer.

everyone had a really great time. the daddy-to-be got 12+ cases of diapers, sizes 1-4!!! that's a lot of money saved for new parents. all the guys enjoyed it and they played poker until almost 2 am.

there is a shower that some people have for the guys called a beer and diaper party. the guys are suppost to bring a case of beer and a bag of diapers. then they sit around and eat junk and watch tv or play pool, video games, ect. my fiance is having one today but it's at the same place and time as my shower and i know that most of his friends are just bringing drinks and a present not really diapers. i think they will be in the back room most of the time drinking and such.

Well, I checked your other question on the same topic and I think that it's really nice of you to do this for your brother. I like the idea of the BBQ or pot-luck dinner the BA gave in your other question.

As for entertainment, guys are different then chicks. All they need is a 12 pack and the game and they are set. I dont think guys would want to play games like us chicks do at our showers. I wouldn't go to far with the decorations. If you get a cake make it masculine, probably covered with a chocolate frosting.

For the registry, grab a copy of hers and immitate it, obviously not the whole thing. But add clothes, and a bouncer, swing, basinette, etc.

Good luck to your brother and his GF and their up and coming lovely addition!! And congrats Aunt-To-Be!!!

We throw baby showers for our male co-workers whose wives are pregnant. We don't usually play any games though. Just a lunch and presents pretty much.

It would depend on the guy if it is a gay couple or an unmarried father who needs things for his house then go ahead base it on him not his gender you don't have to do anything more then get together have some food and gifts
