2kool4u is correct. Go to a lawyer. The rules will be different depending on where you are located, and if you do something wrong, you might wind up having to pay them damages.

Even though you did not charge them rent, you may have to treat them like tenants. In some locations, you have triggered landlord/tenant laws. In other locations, you just need to change the locks.

local laws vary, since it was not a "real rental" they have fell into the category of residing at your address. They have more rights than you do even not paying rent. You need to find out what the local law is on eviction but do not be surprised if it takes about a year. Most all people who snake into deals like that know the system and can play it like a fiddle.

Call the police. Seriously. That's all it will take. No need to mess with the electricity. Tell them that they have 1 week to move or you are going to have them taken out. Or if you are uncomfortable with that, just call the police without tipping them off. They need to get the hell out of your house. This is not an eviction issue because they are not tenants. They are on your property and in your house without permission. Call the police.

I believe that you need to give them a 30 day notice to move in writing. If they do not move in that time, start an eviction action in court. Then the sheriff will move them if they do not move. If you feel uncomfortable doing all this, go to an attorney. Do everything he says exactly . These people have evidently found a way to prevail on your emotions, you must be cruel to be kind.

write them a letter , certified asking them to leave within 30 days. If they do not leave after thirty days call the police and have them evicted. You may be better calling your local police department and asking your options because each state may be different.

Start the eviction process. Go to an apartment complex office and ask them for the forms.

Put your foot down tell them they have one week to move out or they will no longer be permitted to enter house.
