This is what's on a mixed CD at my house that we made a couple of years ago (in the order of the track list as well):
The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole
White Christmas - Bing Crosby
Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid
When a Child is Born - Boney M

Little Drummer Boy - Ray Coniff Singers
O Holy Night - Josh Groban
Jingle Bells - Glenn Miller and his Orchestra
Here Comes Santa Claus - Elvis Presley
Silent Night - Nat King Cole
Happy Xmas - John Lennon & Yoko Ono
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Peggy Lee

Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time - Paul McCartney
Santa Claus is Coming to Town - Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band
Let it Be Christmas - Alan Jackson
**(this was not on the original CD, but I prefer the version from his new "Noel" CD above everyone else's)
That all fit on one 80 minute CD. In addition to those though, some of my others that you could consider:
Christmas Time - Alvin & the Chipmunks (as mentioned above)
Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer - Irish Rovers (come on, who can resist this one?!?! hehehe...)
Where Are You Christmas - Faith Hill (from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" movie soundtrack)
I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas - Gayla Peeve
(Something About) Christmas Time - Bryan Adams
Step Into Christmas - Elton John
Christmas Time - from "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
Hope some of these suggestions have been helpful. Happy holidays!

Best Christmas songs have a lot to do with who sings them.
Best Classics are sung by:
Andy Williams - Most Wonderful Time of Year & Happy Holidays
Bing Crosby - White Christmas & Do You Hear What I Hear & Walking in Winter Wonder Land & Silver Bells & Silent Night
Nat King Cole - Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting)
Gene Autry- Frosty the Snowman & Rudolph Red Nose Reindeer & Here Comes Santa Clause
Frank Sinatra - Let It Snow & Little Drummer Boy
Johnny Mathis - Sleigh Ride & First Noel
Perry Como - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause & We Wish You a Merry Christmas
Over the River & Through the Woods is one of my favorites.

Since The Chimpmunk movie is about to be released, why not find some of the songs that The Chimpmunks sing? We used to have their album when I was a kid and I found the same music on a CD for my own kids. Another good choice is music by Kenny G. No words, but really nice music. An old song someone might like who's away from home is I'll Be Home For Christmas. This is my grandma's favorite since she's here in the US and her family is in England. There are so many people who sing these songs. I'd just look them up and select the one from the artist your family member likes the best.

My favorites are "Carol of the Bells" and "Christmas in Sarajevo" as performed by the Trans Siberian Orchestra.
Gorgeous music. Great mood setters.

My alltime favorite Christmas album is Bing Crosby's Christmas album. It's old fashioned and I've listened to it every Christmas of my whole life.
