They see it as a trade-off for some credibility from the fundamentalists.

The Republican party made their bed, now they have to sleep in it. Reagan courted the fundamentalist into the party in the 1980s. Today, fundamentalist represent a 40% voting block in the Republican party. No candidate can get the Republican nomination without sucking up to the Christian far right wing.
I think the courtship of fundamentists Christian has blown up in the party's face. For generations to come, religion will be the highest consideration in the nomination of a Republican candidate.

When democRATic candidates suck up to the Hollywood and media liberals, not to mention all their special interest groups like ACT-UP, Queer Nation, Move On, etc., do they realize they undermine their "credibility"?
Whenever Teddy Kennedy or Jack Murtha open their mouths, it also undermines the credibility of the democRAT party.

Yes but they don't care about their credibility by you or any other ordinary American. They know they lost your vote long ago and instead are focusing hard on those people who'll never vote DNC and who think liberals are all socialists, you know the type. It's no surprise they are catering to fundamentalists, NO ONE else wants them so there's little for them left to do than focus on that group and try with cheap and divisive rhetoric to convince others to buy into the lies of the regressive anti Democratic right

As opposed to the Dems, who suck up to Hollywood? That builds credibility? Oprah? Streisand? Who is this supposed to impress? Avid E! watchers? Glass houses......
