For the first couple of times, fully recharge the battery and fully discharge it by using it. This'll have the biggest longlife effect on the battery. Other than that, use can use a good power-saving mode in control panel.

One thing you can do is turn down the backlight on the laptop. This is probably the biggest eater of power on your computer. Do you see the F1-F12 keys on the keyboard?? There should be pictures of stuff on them. One should look like a sun with a arrow pointing and one pointing up. These are the lighting keys. If you hold down the FN key while pressing one of those, the light should increase (or decrease) by a certain amount.
Also, you can look in the control panel, and look for "Power Options", if you don't have the function keys. This screen allows you to turn down the backlight, along with various other functions.

I would say never charge the battery, if it is not flat , dont use and charge the whole time let the battery run down at least 3 times a week and if you can avoid charging the battery at all if its not depleted its power this will be the best for the battery, Hope it helps

You need to learn how to charge it correctly so that you will get the most out of your battery.
What you do is...
Let it run out of juice all the way to where it actually shuts off your note book. ( They don't call them lap tops anymore).
anyways, after it has fully run out of juice and has shut down your computer. then you need to charge it to a full charge. Then turn on your system and start reading your documents folder where it has all the file info and other info that you need to know to keep it running right. They don't come with manuals anymore cause the manual is in C. files.
Enjoy and have fun. Merry Christmas!

I have the same problem.. It goes out so fast.. what you can do is instead of leaving the screen open to see it, just close it... That way it is not wasting the power putting the screensaver or light of the laptop on! Best of Luck

When it dies, you can use it for a paperweight and get a little more use out of it.
