PaddyRanger ...there are a myriad of ways to hide their faces on those tapes with today's technology, I hope you are not serious.

Paddy you either support the constitution or you do not......it's that simple, but time and again people such as your self would rather support this corrupt adminstration than it.

No I don't.
By itself, the destruction of the CIA torture tapes constitutes a sufficient basis for impeachment of top government officials. It comes on top of revelations of massive domestic spying and illegality. It was done by a government that routinely violates and ignores laws, launches illegal wars of aggression, and conspires against the democratic rights of the American people.
But the Democratic leadership has resolutely, since winning control of both houses of Congress over a year ago, ruled out any impeachment investigation. No serious hearings or investigations have been carried out into the Bush administration’s torture program and other brazen violations of American and international law under the Democratic Congress.
There may be fall-out from the destruction of the videos. Some lower-level individuals may be made fall guys for the White House and the CIA. But the Bush administration is counting with good reason on the Democrats to keep things under control.
This new revelation underscores the lawless character of the clique around Bush and the immense dangers it represents to the democratic rights of the people. It also highlights the Democratic Party’s lack of any serious commitment to the defense of democratic rights. These rights can be defended only through the independent political mobilization of the working population against the two-party political establishment and the US ruling elite whose interests it serves.

The "Security Risk" he was talking about was the risk that the CIA would face a thorough enough investigation to have it's mission changed from undermining Democracy to actually gathering Intelligence.
Of all the means by which information is gathered, torture is the lamest. People being tortured don't tell you what you need to know. They tell you what they think you want to hear.
It's only ever done because there are people who like to do it.
Gaining people's trust and cooperation is hard, and can be expensive--but it's still the only way to get the straight dope.
Which is why exposing Valerie Wilson's identity was such a threat to conscientious spies. People don't feel comfortable being seen talking to someone who is known as a spy.
Makes you wonder whose cover will be blown by the White House in retaliation for the NIE showing that Iran suspended its Nuclear Weapons Program 4 years ago.

It's not an excuse its a perfectly valid reason to destroy the tapes, to be frank, should never have been made in the first place. Why would you have tapes of how you conduct an interrogation blank out the faces and make them public so Al Quaida can view them and train to counter them ? why don't you just hand over every tactic to beat the terrorists to them and SURRENDER
some people just do not think or understand we are at war, this is not a picnic.
The Bush AWOL reports did not disappear because they never existed in the first place, I know the democrats love the "OK the memo is fake but the story is true" line, they can not find any proof to back this up, because there is none.
I am dead serious, WHY WOULD you reveal to the enemy your tactics ???? can you answer that ?
The ID of agents and the Tactics used are more important than the "rights" of a terrorist.
I am not an American so to be honest your argument about the constitution is invalid, I "would" if I was American vote for Bush, and I agree with what he is doing, its quite simple either you support the terrorists, which in this case it seems you do, or you are against them, which is it ?
And what do you mean "people like me" would support this corrupt administration, I do not see its corrupt, I hear plenty of traitors calling it such, but have seen nothing to back this up

Nope , don't buy it and I am surprised that in a time when the government and any of its agencies are trusted the least in history that this CIA director would even bother to lie. i guess he has learned it well from Bush.
This whole administration has been a lie, from start to finish, from top to bottom. never have we had such corruption in our government. it is a very sad time in our history.

Obviously to cover up the Bush Administration..Strange how they deny they knew the tapes even existed when it was them selves who set the rules....! The CIA is a government agency, responsible to answer to congress/ the senate and the American people for actions it carries out !

The only government agency with a known history of passing classified info to the press is the White House, anyway.

The CIA invented a new torture technique. Nude electrical waterboarding. At the time they invented it, they had not yet applied for the patent and were afraid that if the video got out before the patent was secure, they could lose millions in international royalty fees.
