They may look awful to you 'cos you've seen them from new but to someone else they may look 'shabby chic' - very in!

I dont think it would be worth while trying to paint them. There are paints that might last a bit, but i think you will find that such high wear will only lead to the same thing happening.

I m sure they look bad because of spotty wear. Is it possible to take the taps off and use fine sandpaper 200 - 300 and maybe a buffer and just wear off all the spotty look down to the metal if they are metal. This way you might have a raw metal look, just a thought may not be worth doing also. You would have to clean them up to paint them anyways.

There are a wide range of paints, goto your local hardware store. Try a few and see what products they have. You can also buy replacement tap handles if thats the only spot with wear.

In a word-No!The original finish would probably be brass plating, the usual thickness is 3 microns. If the taps are expensive originals,it might be worthwhile to have them removed and replated.Otherwise,go for replacements, like everything else "You get what you pay for",gold plated fittings are readily obtainable, but expensive.

I think you just need to bite the bullet and get them changed. I guess its down to cost v's benefit in other words by the time you get them off have the inconvienience of not being able to use a bath or basin whilst they're being replated and then refitted...........hope that helps.

Maybe but it won't last long. I would try epoxy paint. You might be better off just getting new ones, they aren't that expensive and aren't that hard to install.

I doubt it - they would soon chip and look even worse. Best bet is replacement.
