im 4weeks and 3 days pregnant now and yesterday i went for an ultrasound and they could'nt see even a sac!
they also took my hcg levels which came in at 1025 and progesterone level at 68.
i have to be retested in a couple of days for hcg rising and doubling, but what i want to know is if its normal not to see anything other than a thickened endometrial lining.
the nurse said that everything looks ok and you dont see anything till hcg gets 2000 and above! but i'm not convinced
can anyone tell me if this has happened to them and had a succsessfull pregnancy?

thats really normal. Everything is still getting itself together to start making all the bits and pieces but it starts to go quickly from 5 weeks.
By about 5-51/2 weeks they can usually see a small yoke sac but not always embryo yet.
By about 6-7 weeks the embryo is visible and should have a heartbeat visible no later than 8weeks.

When you have a blood test in a few days the hcg should have doubled (as it does every 2-3 days for nearly the first trimester) and the next ultrasound should show you what you want to see!

Don't worry about it and let nature take its course. Its a big job creating another human being and at 4 weeks its only just started. You have to give it time.

Best of luck and congrats on the bubs!

I'm curious...why did they do an ultrasound so early in the pregnancy? Were you having bleeding or other problems? I ask because it's very uncommon to do a sonogram until later in the pregnancy unless there are issues that make the clinician wonder if the pregnancy is progressing.

hCG levels can vary widely in women so it's not necessarily the best indicator of gestational age, but most docs won't even do a transvaginal ultrasound until the hCG levels have reached 2000 (the nurse was right), because the sac can normally be visualized by that time.

Don't worry too much, just get your blood tested again and wait for your results.

i think its normal ive been 9weeks pregnant b4 i miscarried and at 3 1/2 weeks all they could c was a black shaded area on the screen and that was nearly where ur at... dnt worry the doctors know what they r doing... and dnt worry about them taking more blood 2 c if ur hcg is rising its just precaution cuz this is the time when its the most dangerous (1st trimester) and stressing isnt good 4 the baby... take it easy sweetie and good luck 2 u and ur new family

god your hcg levels are high :-) might be twins in there :-) i had a scan at same time as you with my third daughter who is now 3n half, because its so early it can be really hard to find, unless they do an internal scan thats prob y they cant find baby, when i had my scan it was due to bleeding and i thought i was at least 6wk turns out i was wrong but my little girl is proff that everything is fine, dont worry too much enjoy the early days of pregnancy
good luck :-)

I would trust the nurse, they will tell you when its time to worry. It probably is normal as you have just missed your period so the baby/egg is still settling into the womb lining. Good luck.
