so if belly dancers are part of the norm and not seen as sexual as i have been told by some of the people on here, what do men think of them? im sure they see them sexually, and i think its a lie if u say they dont. why are women always seen as an object!!!!!!! it gets on my nerves. neway its a messed up culture!!!!!!!!

Men being attracted to women is not a "messed up culture" it a normal physiological process. Without it none of us would be here.

Polynesian cultures consider sex as something sacred, something must be respected. That's why most of them have what is called 'Fertility Dance', similar to belly dance, to stimulate the youngs to reproduce and take the culture to the next generations.
In India & some middle eastern cultures have the same concept, which is taking the idea of sex for reproducing the next generations seriously. By these dances, they actually ensuring the next generations. This can only be done apropriately by a strong culture of marriage, which is more unlikely to be valid in western world. Unlike western world who have sex for fun & ignore the kids.
You obviously a feminist & need to widen your perspective.
Don't compare those cultures with some strip club accross the street. They are totally different in concept & vision.

yeah think men see some of them as sexual..the pretty ones with good bodies...i dont think they see the old ones with big bellies sexual. anyways so wht if they did? your obv a feminist whos not all that attractive and feel the need to pick on said culture

Men just don't understand belly dancing. It seems to me they are only looking at the body not so much thinking about the dance. This dance goes back in history and was originally a spiritual dance done by women for women and the goddess's.

Most men who watch and see belly dancers are first rate eternal Optimists and Hope fulls.Deep down they firmly believe that no dress(skirt) can ever stay in place with so much jerking,twisting and shaking.Even after watching many shows,their belief remains intact.

I think belly dancers are very beautiful. I don't put money in their clothing like I see many American men do. I think it's tacky. She's not a stripper.
I see it as cultural and artistic.
I don't understand why Americans are so obsessed with violence and sex.
