Two reasons. Apparently, snakes are not as endangered as some of the aquatic animals you mention. Second, people regard snakes as pests that harm them, so they may not be as eager to "save" them even if they were endangered.

Well I have eaten dolphins,whales, cat & snakes and snakes taste like chicken, cats taste like chicken & dolphins,whales taste like fish. I'll all for eating the above, what do we need animals for anyway, besides for food.
