philosophy is thinking... in my opinion... so really... anything that mkaes you think is philosophy so technically all questions should be posted in philosophy... they may seem irrelevant to you but mean alot to someone else... philosophy is everything and nothing. its confusing with no clear boundaries and no definite answers. philosophy is logic and opinion combined. philosophy is you.
happy philosophising =]

The way the general public understand Philosophy is different than the way academic philosophers do, and within academia and even between individual philosophers there is a lot of disagreement about what Philosophy is. This isn't helped by the popular opinion that Philosophy is dead, which leads to the conceptual empty space it used to occupy (assuming it really is dead) being filled up by other stuff.
I don't know if it's really my place to tell other people what Philosophy is. My version of it would involve questions like, "is supervenience a coherent concept?" and "could there be a multidimensional truth value space which is non-Euclidean?", but that isn't going to make a lot of sense to most people or seem at all relevant.
Questions about poetry? OK, here's a philosophical question about poetry. One of the Romantic poets wrote a poem about the Moon where he described the crescent as enclosing a star. Does that mean he had an anthropocentric view of physical reality?
About love? Do you fall in love with the image of a person or the person themselves, and if you can only fall in love with their image, can there be such a thing as true romantic love?
About current affairs? Is Cardinal Connor's attitude towards the current abortion bill consistent because he wants it to be just regardless of whether he agrees with abortion?
However, i think people put things in here as a result of their understanding of what Philosophy is. It really could, potentially, be about the meaning of life, and Wittgenstein himself once said something like "What's the point of Philosophy if all it can do is answer abstruse questions which have nothing to do with life?"

We can always hope that America will become a philosophy led country.
As for what philosophy is I like the definition given by Stanley Rosen " The task of Philosophy is to preserve the delicate balance between man and the cosmos"

Unlike religious people, a philosopher feels free to consider anything as worth consideration. Unrestricted thinking.

Several times I have suggested to questioners that they learn something about the metaphysics or the epistemology of their questions before they ask.
They often get irate that such a thing ought to be, that they should know of what they ask before they ask.
But I got a nasty, angry email from one of them who said "How dare I tell him what he ought to do?" and he put me on permanent ignore.
Oh well.

When Wittgenstein went to his house by the sea he said:
"I am giving up philosophy!"
But when he saw the first empty sea shell lying on the shore, he knew his real and absolute fate.

friend,
There is nothing under the sun that that can not be covered under philosophy.
All good and bad things included , everything is has its place in philosophy.Philosophy opens up ones mind to understand what is logically right and what is to be discarded.
Love of Wisdom is the meaning of the word Philosophy. So any question is welcome here.
But we normally think that Spiritual questions, God related matters and religious questions alone are the ones that come under Philosophy.
This is what I THINK PLEASE.
