Calmly and rationally. I think we radiate our emotions, and if we can radiate calmness more strongly than they radiate anger, they will get calm with us. :)

I usually smile and do what I can to brighten their day..even though secretly I just wanna smack em..LOL I'm a waitress and we have to go by "The customer is always right" So, if someone is trying to get free food..we have to oblige still :(

I coolly ask them to first cool dowm and let me know the reason for getting angry and if they do not listen then i also yell back at them.
