I am sure there are many different reasons. The rise in gas prices, the fact that those we buy oil from are steadily becoming more hostile the richer we make them and the desire to be more environmentally friendly are all high on the list I think. When they start making them truck sized and durable people will buy more.

Regardless of what the lunatic media would have you believe, Americans care about the environment. Most of us recycle, look for gas milage information when shopping for cars, and are leading the world in developing alternative fuels. Certainly we have a long way to go, but we do care. Now, if Al Gore could find a way to fly around in a hybrid jet we could reduce global warming even further.

Because Americans think that by bying a Hybrid, they are saving money. not true. gas is being saved, and the reduced impact on the environment is unquestionable. But in general. These hybrids cost about 20,000 dollars more than they should. With that kind of extra cost built in, It would take years just to break even.

There aren't that many hybrids on the road. There aren't even enough regular low gas consumption cars on the road.
