I agree - without national security, everything else is moot.
Paul isn't even registering on the polls. I think, he may not make it to the nomination....
Sleepless night, Earnest? Here maybe this will help -
Michael Franti And Spearhead » In The Light
When I wake up in the morning, I hope I see you in the light.
When I wake up in the morning, I hope I see you in the light.
I have been traveling down this river, so many rocks pop up in my sight.
I've got to make some quick decisions, should I go left or should I go right.
I pray for guidance and protection, it keeps my boat water tight.
And, I know if I just keep on believin, every little thing is gonna be alright.
When I wake up in the morning, I hope I see you in the light.
When I wake up in the morning, I hope I see you in the light.
The vampires gather around me, angling to take a bite.
They want to drink my blood of courage, and try to take away my fight.
But no, no, no, they can't do that, for one truth I've learned in life.
You want to scary away the vampires, you simple guide them into the light.
When I wake up in the morning, I hope I see you in the light.
When I wake up in the morning, I hope I see you in the light.
In the morn, in the morning. In the morn, in the morning.
In the morn, in the morning.
In the morn, in the morning. In the morning.
In the morn, in the morning. In the morn, in the morning.
In the morn, in the morning.
In the morn, in the morning. In the morning.
And when my time is done, I did some wrong, I did some right.
Call my name to kingdom come, spread my wings in flight.
I hope that when my day is over, My love, I see you in the light.

I actually know a lot of people who are going to vote for him. I'm mostly a Democrat and I want to vote for him.
Most likely we are looking at another Clinton in office though, so he probably won't win.
People support him because of the reasons stated above: he's more for the actual constitution than any other candidate. He wants to give the states power and not just big government. We the people, not we the country.
For the second question, well I suppose if he doesn't win the primaries they won't have anyone to support anymore, will they? If he's not in the running anymore then it won't make a difference whether his supporters think he is popular of not. Why is it important anyway? So what if people think he's very popular, if he's not? It's not doing any harm to anyone else is it? If he only gets single-digit support then I guess that will be it won't it? If people want to believe Paul's got more supporters then it actually says then whoopdee-freaking-do, good for them. Better to be optimistic about something, eh? Let the delusional people think what they want, and when or if he loses the primaries then they can finally get the point.

I can't agree with abolishing the FBI and CIA. They do an awesome job and a vital job. But the DHS didn't exist before 9-11, did it? I don't know. Anyway it's a bloated government bureaucracy that does little to protect the homeland. It absorbed FEMA which is why FEMA was so weak when a real disaster struck. Get rid of it. Dept of Education - same thing, get rid of it. States need more control over education.

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin
If you trust the US federal government to operate in YOUR best interest, there are 10 or 15 candidates for you to choose from. Personally, I fear the CIA and the IRS much more than I fear Al Queda. One crazy suicide bomber isn't nearly as dangerous as a battalion of UN 'Peacekeepers'.
While the other candidates are focused on stopping the terrorists from killing us, Ron Paul is focused on making the terrorists no longer feel the need to kill us. That's true security.
In 2008, you've only got two choices; Ron Paul or more of the same. Choose wisely.

I Ron Paul is kind of like a Ross Perot. Although Ross Perot's ideas were better and he was much more popular. Ron Paul appeals to the kook fringe that doesn't understand the reason for the Iraq war. They think we should just mind our own business and nothing will happen. His supporters will stay with him. I'm just not sure how many are Republicans. I think most of the Ron Paul supporters are really Democrats.

Ron Paul is what the republican party used to be before the neocons took over. He wants to bring our troops home and stop meddling in every other country's affairs, and he wants to actually secure our borders. That will eliminate the need for the CIA and Homeland Security.
He bases his desire to eliminate all three departments on the constitution which doesn't seem to matter much to republicans or democrats any more. States should police themselves. The federal government is responsible for maintaining an armed force capable of defending the homeland in the event of an attack. The FBI, CIA, and Homeland Security shouldn't exist anyway.
If we start minding our own business and allow the states to enforce the laws, then we could definitely do well without those big government agencies and a few others that should be eliminated..

ET.
The situation is this....Ron Paul is the only candidate, Rep or Dem ,who seems to have even read the Constitution and Bill of Rights. He seems to want Federal Government to function according to these documents. Checks and balances, for the people, etc... the things taught in Civics classes long ago.
The problem is this...so few people have any idea of what the Constitution and Bill of Rights actually direct the Fed to do, so the ideas he purports seem strange and unusual. Actually they are not. They are in line with the principles on which this country was founded and grew to greatness.
For decades, the anti-Constitution factions have been slowly eroding the liberties that too many have taken for granted for too long.
The Council on Foreign Affairs has lead the way to globalism for decades and we, the people, have allowed it to happen.
Just because Ron Paul is not a poll leader does not mean he is wrong. Leaders are not necessarily popular. The way to be elected to public office is to determine what voters want to hear and tell them that. Integrity is a rare item in politics.
Media, in this country, has the power to elect you or me to any office, including the presidency.

I think Ron Paul is an idealist. A such, he attracts people that think some form of integrity and purity, if you would, is an answer to what we need. I think Paul is a very admirable man, and as such, and an idealist, will never receive the level of support he needs to become the nominee.

Just who will he convince to do this? Congress, the senate? He is another Ralph Nader and in my view is just someone to garner the another vote for Hillary.
He also stated that if he is not the Republican candidate that he would not support the candidate of the peoples choice.
He is not even loyal to his own party. No, he won't get my vote.
Yes, he would be a danger to the office.

Ron Paul wants to bring back the constitution.
Americans like the constitution because it gave them rights. War in other countries do not give us freedom, the Constitution of the United States gave us freedom.
