Can you take painkillers in early labour?

They say it's so painful. It it like cramps during the periods? I have very painful periods, and I take painkillers. Why can't you eat a couple of Ibuproms and tale it easy?

Some people do cramp. The fear tension pain syndrome is what causes the cramping. If you totally relax, that will eliminate the fear tension pain syndrome and eliminate the cramps. I have had four kids. My labors felt totally different from cramps. Menstral cramps hurt worse. My labor was just a dull ache that came and went. It was not nearly as bad as menstral cramps. I used the Bradley method. My uterus did not cramp, so the only pain I felt was the crevix stretching.

Unfortunately pain in labour is normal but you can't take period pain tablets because you're not having a period, the pain is your cervix opening to let the baby through. You can take gas and air, pethidine or have an epidural however I would wait until your further into labour before using these. Early on you can try heat packs, or a hot shower or bath feels really good. I stayed in the bath for a couple of hours and then had an epidural after that.

ibuprofen is not going to do it in pregnancy. thats why there is an epidural offered. Ibuprofen will be as useful as a box of rocks.

Plus, it crosses the placenta barrier and is not advised in pregnancy unless absolutley necessary and only with doc supervision.

Also, it doesnt fall into the pain killer category. Pain killers are like Percoset and Vicoden. Ibuprofen is NSAID- non steroidal anti inflammatory

During pregnancy, never take any thing of yur own without consulting the gynac because of the foetus inside you.

because then u wouldnt be able to get ny drugs when u goo in for labor.... youwoul go all naturall....
