Is there any way of turning them off so i can put a child seat in the front?

The Side airbags aren't to major a concern due to the nature that they are deployed however the passenger airbag is a different creature entirely. Your best bet is to take it along to the dealership and ask if it can be deactivated, you may even be lucky and find out the you can deactivate it yourself.

As for Mr get something big for your loved ones safety, it's a load of old bollocks. The Swift (or at least the new one) is one of the safest small cars on the road and due to the way that it diffuses any impact damge is a vastly safer bet than say a 90's Volvo 850 estate.

Get a garage to disable them. You may be very careful driver indeed the problem is another driver having a lapse in concentration at the wrong moment

This tiny car is not safe to put all your eggs in it! The car is a coffin on wheels, get something bigger and safer for your love ones,please.
