To my knowledge the city of San Antonio itself has no VFDs as these are covered by the Fire Department of the City of San Antonio. The VFDs in Bexar County are in the unincorporated areas and not San Antonio itself.

While these organizations perform a valuable service they are not affiliated with the City of San Antonio or the SAFD. Bexar County Fire Alarm dispatches most of the VFDs that service small munis and unincorporated areas of the county.

Additionally, while such comments as which VFD is best may help bolster esprit de corps in the individual VFD, it certainly deminishes the efforts put out by all the fine volunteers around the county, and throughout the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. However, I'm sure that if you are loooking for an actual answer to this question Contact the Bexar County Fire Marshall's Office. But as the BCFM office still is reporting 2004 data on their website, don't expect any current information.
