What I mean by that is fighting your weaknesses, dark past, and trying to find your true self. We always try to let go and move on but eventually it comes up again and we don't notice... So don't you agree it is the toughest battle to deal with yourself?

How do I get rid of my weaknesses? I know only I can get rid of my own but any suggestions?

Thanks for reading.

Indeed, it is as they say, you are your own worst enemy. Many of the things that torture us (apart from factors we have no control over, like rotten family members, lol) are those we inflict upon ourselves - like, I'm ugly, stupid, am scared of heights, etc. A bit of angst is ok, I mean otherwise we would be such boring people, but the old adage still holds true, you have to love yourself first before others can love you. The way I get around this, is have a mental mirror, a bit like the wicked stepmother of snow white(!) in which I look mentally and tell myself I look way prettier than I really am, or smarter than I think. It's amazing how people actually tune in to these vibes. I'm not a pretty girl at all, pretty average and yet people tell me I'm pretty all the time. I think it's more a matter of confidence. I had a very hard life and had to learn to accept myself for what I am in order to survive.

I think taking the first step is the hardest part and that might seem like a battle but somewhere along the way it becomes a great thing to be doing and changes just into a journey - travelling through self learning.

There is a crossover part where you understand that there can be no self blame when in learning mode and that outcomes are not good means for judging yourself. There comes a point when living in process rather than content becomes the way of life and it is all a lot easier and more exciting.

My life was a battleground and when I made the first step it was a relief. I had gone on an experimental 10 week course in self improvement recruited by my GP and realised that therapy was a way out and it did prove to be a good way to face myself along with someone who could help me readjust my twisted thinking about myself and others without blame.

We really don't get rid of anything, we learn to deal with it. Yes, we can retrain ourselves, but the retraining will occasionally slip, and our old behavior will reappear once, more if we let it. It is tough to deal with yourself, even tougher to honestly appraise yourself, and toughest of all to realize what you can and cannot change about yourself. As for getting rid of your weaknesses, you might turn them into strengths--if you are a confrontational type, become an ombudsman for a good cause, an attorney, something like that. As for letting go and moving on, we actually move on before we let go--think about it--we move to a new house, establish ourselves, and then we start to think of ourselves as members of the community and slowly let go of our ties to the old.

I agree with this thought!

not most and all people can eliminate their self-enemy,because for the rest of your life...yourself will always be your toughest enemy. Many people is not aware that they fight themselves as they proclaim that they already won with themselves. It is reoccuring in your entire life. Just like me. I fight to be straight but it keeps on coming back as gay. win-loose-win. I always fight myself
