Decison-making and all else ought to be shared in a healthy marriage.
Communication is the key to unlocking a life-long friendship with your spouse.

It can. But Dominant is a poor term to use in this context. What I would suggest is that you’re the final Authority in the family. Now what does that mean? I know lots of authoritative figures, and almost none of them have the only say in a decision. To have authority usually means that you bear the consequence of a bad decision, but share the good fortune of making a wise one. A CEO of a company has an entire staff to help make decisions and carry them out…but junior staff rarely lose their jobs if the company fails…it’s blamed on the CEO. A military commander needs lots of help conducting a war…but junior officers are never blamed for the orders of their superiors. Likewise…having the “pants” in a relationship, is not a symbol of privilege…but rather an obligation to conduct oneself above expectations. As the final authority (note: not sole authority…final authority), the wearer of the “pants” (traditionally men) took total responsibility for their family’s welfare. Kids are starving? Family is broke? House in disrepair? Communication breakdown? All the responsibility ultimately given to the Head of the Household. This is why women, with remarkably effective and diligent husbands, proudly say to their friends: “HE wears the pants in the family!” And all the women who have self serving, lazy, foolish husbands say: “I HAVE to wear the pants in the family!”

Honestly, it depends on the situation. We both agree that there are areas that he's better at and areas that I'm better at. We trade the pants depending on the situation. If we disagree on something we talk about it until we come to some conclusion about how to handle it. Sometimes I give in, sometimes he does.

i did but I think that helped break up the marriage. I did not know how to let him makes decisions and tell me no on subjects. i would throw a fit and get my way in the end. Now that i think about it, i am not sure this was okay.

Hello,
I like to treat the man I am with as if he does. Though he knows perfectly well if he steps out of line I can get by perfectly well on my own.....
We like to work as a team here. Give and take is what it is all about....

I'd like to think I do, but I know she dose! I want her to be happy, at all costs. Sounds pathetic, huh? I love her unconditionally, really! I would do pretty much anything to keep her. Sad but true!
